Design for the common good

The theme of the U.S. Pavilion at the 13th International Venice Architecture Biennale–August 29 to November 25—is spontaneous interventions: design actions for the common good.”

The goal is to archive and promote the current “movement of designers acting on their own initiative to solve problematic urban situations … [from] urban farms to guerilla bike lanes, temporary architecture to poster campaigns … ”

Obviously all manner of public-facing Kickstarter campaigns would indeed be included under this umbrella. In fact, anything demonstrating an “optimistic willingness to venture outside conventional practice and to deploy fresh tactics to make cities more sustainable, accessible, and inclusive“ would be applicable. Sounds like a lot of people we know, and hopefully a lot of people who read this blog that we don’t directly know…

Regardless, the powers-that-be are taking notice and now is the time to take your vision to an international forum.

Submit your projects here … and do it by February 6!
